Thekla’s Top Tracks of Summer

1.       Kaleo – I Can’t Go On Without You: Heavy blues rock from unexpected Icelandic newcomers, after their hit ‘Way Down We Go’. If you like Hozier, then you’ll love these guys.

2.       Ladyhawke – The River:  She’s back. And just the 14 second preview of this track is catchy enough to have us hooked.

3.       Frightened Rabbit – Get Out: their entire latest album is quintessential Frightened Rabbit – favouring those heavy instrumentals over the more acoustic style of their earliest material. By this point in their career, it’s safe to say that these guys have become masters of their field.

4.       Frank Hamilton – 10 Days:  The Guardian reckons this’ll be one of this summer’s hot tracks; produced by James Earp and mastered by Robin Schmidt, you know it’s got it all going on.

The guardian’s got a cheeky link to the track here: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/new-music-to-listen-to-this-week-adia-victoria-and-frank-hamilton-a7035971.html
Otherwise, you can check out more of Hamilton’s work on his SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/frankhamilton

5.       Radiohead – Burn The Witch: they never fail to reel in an audience- and some of our very own local Bristol creatives had a hand in the production of this video, which makes it twice as good.

6.       Rozelle – Crystallise: Their latest track channels heavy riffs with powerful vocals and although you might only be able to hear it live, it’s worth the wait. Bristol-based ambient rockers have been skirting around the South West for a while, and we’re willing to bet that you’ll be able to catch them later this summer – keep your ears to the ground.

This song’s not actually yet available, it’s so new. But you can check out some of their other tracks including ‘Fold’, here: https://soundcloud.com/rozelleofficial

7.       Gold Panda – In My Car:  If his last album wasn’t everything that you wanted it to be, then this will certainly make up for it- and it’ll all be released just in time for festival season.

8.       Eagulls – Lemontrees: From their latest album, ‘Ullages’, Eagulls have adopted a new sound: George Mitchell sounds like the reincarnation of Robert Smith and it’s bloody brilliant.

9.       James Blake – I Need A Forest Fire (ft. Bon Iver):  Potentially the ultimate chill track for the summer. It comes from his new album, ‘The Colour in Anything’ which features appearances from Frank Ocean, Justin Vernon and Connan Mockasin.

10.   The Virginmarys – Into Dust: One of the many gravelly tracks from their latest album- here’s a song with all the passion of a man on his final straw.
