After forming over a decade ago, New Zealand indie-rock outfit The Phoenix Foundation have finally found their way into the public consciousness, thanks to their award-winning soundtrack score for Waititi’s 2010 film ‘Boy’ and 4th album ‘Buffalo’. Their dream-like take on indie has seen comparisons to the Shins, Sufjan Stevens and Fleet Foxes, while a BBC review claimed “the band in no way reinvents the wheel, but their dreamy, synth-heavy spin on Byrds/Beach Boys-style pop is immaculately crafted”.
