Bristol based multi-instrumentalist producer and visual artist She Makes War releases her new album “Brace For Impact” on 28th September, and will be celebrating by touring with her explosive five piece band.
She Makes War is the alt-pop alter ego of Bristol multi-instrumentalist Laura Kidd, who will be releasing her third album, Direction Of Travel, in March 2016 with a glittering launch gig at Thekla on Saturday 26th March.
Produced by Kidd and mixed by Dan Austin (Doves, Pixies), it features guest appearances from Tanya Donelly (Belly, Throwing Muses) and Mark Chadwick (The Levellers) on featured vocals, Clive Deamer (Portishead) and Andy Sutor (Adding Machine) on drums, The McCarricks (Siouxsie Sioux, Marc Almond), Andrew Skeet (The Divine Comedy), Simon Goff (And The Wiremen) and Nicole Robson (Bat For Lashes) on strings and string arrangements, Cajita on piano and indie musician friends Gaz Brookfield, Chris Nicholls and Ami Amp (Oh, The Guilt), Josie Ghost, Mishkin Fitzgerald (Birdeatsbaby) and Tim Bailey (Kill Cassidy) on backing vocals.
It’s been a busy couple of years for the polymath, whose heartstealing blend of solo a cappella looping, riot grrrl inflected indie rock and ukulele melancholy has been making waves around Europe. After three German tours, a universally acclaimed one-woman show at Edinburgh Fringe (“a charming hour of biographical storytelling and music…perfectly executed acoustic gems” – The List), support tours with Duke Special (UK) and The Levellers (UK & Europe), a 22 date UK headline tour, supports for tUnE-yArDs, Gruff Rhys, New Model Army and Pretty Vicious and the Disarm:15 EP release tour in December 2015 she’s gearing up to launch Direction Of Travel in her own inimitable style.
