Lately, if you blink you may miss Goose fly by. Attributing much of their success to a dedicated and exponentially expanding fan base, steady creative output, and a collective commitment to improvement, the band is now universally recognized as a premier musical act nationwide. The quintet – Rick Mitarotonda [vocals, guitar], Peter Anspach [vocals, keys, guitar], Trevor Weekz [bass], Ben Atkind [drums], and Jeff Arevalo [vocals, percussion, drums] brings a genre-fluid sound characterized by head-spinning hooks, technical fireworks, and a chemistry only possible among longtime friends. Following 2016’s moon cabin, they quietly emerged, playing countless shows during their ascent while slowly and steadily amassing a grassroots following.
2019 saw Goose gain significant traction, selling out every show of their headlining tour and playing milestone festival performances, including a storied set at The Peach Music Festival in Scranton, PA. Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, Goose successfully navigated the situation, producing a series of intimate virtual events culminating in a universally acclaimed Bingo Tour.
The band’s 2021 release, Shenanigans Nite Club, debuted at number one on Billboard’s Top New Artist Albums chart, further solidifying their status as one of the nation’s most exciting acts in music.
In 2022, Goose truly came into their own with a series of career-defining moments, including a massive winter/spring tour, the release of their third studio album and groundbreaking collaborations with Trey Anastasio Band on a sold-out, eight-show arena tour. Dripfield, their Intrepid studio release Dripfield arrived at number two on Billboard’s Top New Artist Albums chart. The project was critically lauded by outlets like Rolling Stone, who labeled the music “sweet headphone ear candy and the foundation for a perfect live peak,” and the single “Hungersite” made a huge splash on radio, spending several weeks inside the top 10 on the AAA charts.
Dripfield’s momentum led Goose to some of the world’s most renowned stages, including Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Radio City Music Hall, Newport Folk Festival, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and Austin City Limits. The latter half of 2022 included the band’s inaugural national television appearances, including CBS Saturday Morning, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Goose’s 2022 achievements were capped off with the surprise release of Undecided, a four-track EP featuring reimagined versions of fan-favorite live catalog staples captured in studio. In 2023, the band kicked off the year with a return to Mexico for Dead and Company’s annual event, Playing in the Sand, and a sold-out five-night run at Port Chester, NY’s historic Capitol Theatre.
With their eyes firmly set on the future, Goose’s unique blend of musical virtuosity and creative fearlessness continues to strike a chord with audiences around the world, as they continue to make their mark one electrifying performance at a time.
