Personal Trainer

The restlessly creative Dutch indie rock stalwarts Personal Trainer have gradually risen up from Amsterdam’s grassroots scenes to touring the world as part of the roster of UK based record label Bella Union. Led by Willem Smit, Personal Trainer showed a facility for DIY indie-pop exuberance and experiment in sync with 2022’s debut, Big Love Blanket. 2024’s Still Willing, a multi-faceted album of shining contrasts and spry melodies, came bursting arrangements and subliminal sounds, playful lyrics and self-reflection: in short, a pop album executed with dynamism, vim and charm. The album found wide spread critical acclaim, including being included in Pitchfork’s Best Rock Albums of 2024 list. Following a short break off the back of three years of intensive touring, the band returned to the studio, with new music set for 2026.
